Baby Evan:: Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photographer

I often get asked what the ideal time for a newborn photography session is. I answer "Within the first 14 days of life". However, sometimes things happen:  babies have stays in the NICU, parents get overwhelmed with the new addition to their family and lose track of time, and don't get around to scheduling. When Evan's mom called me, he was already 4 weeks old. I wasn't able to get him in until he was 5 weeks old.

However, I am SOOOOOOO glad she called me. Evan was a little more challenging than most early newborns, but we were still able to get some AMAZING photos of him!!! I was soooo pleased, and now, no matter how old the newborn is, I encourage families to bring them in. I would rather you have at least a few great photos of your newborn than nothing, because these moments go WAY too fast, and you won't get them back....so capture them:-)

Le Petit Sessions:: Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer

mini sessions columbus, ohio

I SWORE up and down I would never do mini sessions. I figured if families really wanted a session, why would they want it shortened? Well, then I had regular clients, ones which had already had full sessions earlier in the year ask if I would do "One or two shots" for them for their Holiday cards.

Now it is Fall, and I had a BRILLIANT idea for a stylized shoot. What is a stylized shoot? Well, it is when the photographer uses special props, and creates a special "scene" or backdrop for the session. Sometimes incorporating a wordrobe as well. Unfortunately, the idea I had was pretty involved, and would require a lot of set up. I could do one of two things. I could set it up once and use it for Ava's first Birthday photos, OR I could set it up ONCE and use it for a mini session. Well, I will be doing both:-) On October 20th, I will be offering a unique backdrop for some beautiful fall minis (wordrobe not included, but will gladly advise families on what will look best). And I STILL refuse to call them minis, hence the name "Le Petit"...Yes, Yes, Yes, I am aware that means "the small" in French, but I am being stubborn and can still say I don't do "Mini Sessions" ;-)

Sessions start at 3 and go to 5:40:

3pm
3:20
3:40
4:00
4:20

THEN I decided, what the heck! Some people like the indoor, studio sessions. So, I put in a day for those. November 11th will offer sessions from 1pm-4pm.

1pm
1:20
1:40
2:00

As you can see, there are already sessions being nabbed up!! The Full session fee is due within 24 hours of booking, or your slot will be re-opened to others wanting it. As you can see, there are 2 different options. Each session will obviously produce more than 4 images, so you will have the opportunity to add more to your disc for a minimal cost.

Pass this on to your friends and family:-) Share, and help me make happy families with beautiful pictures for their Christmas Cards...or just to update their family photos.

Mason 3 Months Old:: Columbus, Ohio Children's Photographer

When marketing experts say word of mouth is the best form of marketing, they are not lying. My sister in law lives in Spencerville, Ohio (2 hours away). A friend of hers lives in Columbus, and when asking around for a photographer, my sister in law suggested me! I was truly flattered, and was excited to meet a new family that I could potentially watch their little munchkin grow up in front of my lens.

Mason was just adorable. Typically, 3 month olds are a little difficult to capture, because they are at that stage in life they can't do a whole lot. They can't sit up yet, some of them can't quite push up on their arms, and they don't sleep as much as newborns, so the sleepy baby pictures are almost impossible to get. However, Mason was a rockstar! He was such a little ham for the camera, and I can't wait to see him again.

Thank you so much Sydney for refering Jody to me!

Another Rainbow!! :: Columbus, Ohio Maternity Photographer

When I first started this journey, it was because I was in need of a MAJOR creative outlet after the devestating loss of my first born daughter, Rosalynn. I needed something that made me happy, and encouraged me to get out of the house. Work was work, and unfortunately, there were days I was constantly reminded of my loss with the frequent visits from pregnant ladies, miscarriages, and the occasional woman in labor. I worked in an ER. I was also becoming bitter, because there would be 7+ month pregnant women coming through the doors drunk and high on who knows what. I needed something that took me away from that and made me happy again. This is why I picked up the camera.

I was blessed to have an amazing support from women all over the country who had experienced losses such as myself. Holly was one of the first women I came in contact with. She is well known amongst the community, and luckily for me, she lives less than 2 hours away.

We had met up once or twice, and when she gave birth to her first rainbow baby, I begged her to let me take a few pictures. I needed the practice. I know, you are probably wondering what a "rainbow baby" is....well, you can find the explination here:  http://journeyoflifeandluv.blogspot.com/2011/03/post-everyone-has-been-praying-for.html (about 3/4 of the way down is the definition).

She agreed, and I made my way to her to take a few photos of her daughter, Lainey, you can see those pictures here:  http://journeyoflifeandluv.blogspot.com/2010/11/another-beautiful-family-shoot.html

I still LOVE these photos, but I can definitely tell I have come a LONG way!!

Well, Holly is officially expecting her second rainbow baby, Evanee!! And I am soooo blessed that she chose ME for her maternity session. She is absolutely stunning, and her girls are soooo cute!! All 4 girls were present through this shoot, including her angel Carleigh.

Holly was also VERY brave!! Not only did she want nudes, but she wanted me to post them. She claimed they were beautiful and needed to be shared:-) Of course when you are as beautiful as she is, it is easy to get great "nude" shots (as she points out, she is more covered in these shots then in a bakini!! LOL
